This is solid enough to be used as a trenching tool. The blade is 6″ long and perfectly flat. If you plan on trenching with a traditional shovel, you are straight tripping. Save yourself the labor, and buy this.

Just got this a week ago and gave it a good workout edging my driveway. Seems to be a very stout tool. Far better than the TrueTemper one that I had that broke after the second use.

Very well made. I used this tool to create a flower bed 110′ long by 4′ wide.
I then used the tool to make the first edge into the yard then used it to cut up the sod into manageable pieces for removal. The tool held it’s shape, did not bend and provided a clean edge.

I bought this edger to help clean up some areas and set up some garden areas. It came from the factory pretty sharp and has a solid feel to it overall. Like other manual edgers, these are easier to use on damp soil. I watered the areas I was going to edge a few minutes beforehand and then started to edge. It performed very well. My only complaint is the handles, which are a nice rubber compound, are not attached. I found after 10 or 15 minutes of working with this edger they would become loose and begin to slowly twist off the handle. Every few uses I would push them back on which got annoying after an hour of work. I haven’t addressed this issue yet but I’m sure you could apply some adhesive under the handle.

This tool is actually pretty good, which I kinda didn’t expect, although I wish they had put a sharped edge on it. After all, I’m trying to cut through tough grass, roots, and rocks that haven’t been moved in decades. Still, I haven’t broken it yet, which is a good thing. I stand on the small ledge above the blade and rock back and forth with it, and I don’t notice any wiggling in the handle, so I have hopes for it lasting a while. The handles are comfy and the right height for me.

Used once. Immediately bent. Even in the spring with rather wet soil for this part of the country. It wasn’t a rock either…or my immense weight or strength. You can bend it back to at least look true 90 by hand. Not sure what butter steel they used on my unit but it’s getting returned.

First, as for the company Bully Tools: I ordered this edger Sunday night and it arrived Wednesday morning! FANTASTIC! This edger is solid! I haven’t used it yet due to weather but have no doubt it will make edging a new bed a breeze (Texas clay dirt is so hard to work). Tools I’ve bought in the past from big box stores break after 2 or 3 years (if they even make it that long). I have no doubt this edger will last a very long time. Thank you Bully for a top quality tool!

Butter steel for sure. Opening a narrow slot for rg6 cable underground and steel is ripping off handle weld. Has bent approx 15° multiple times. First use, bought it too long ago to return. I will be modifying blade with steel reinforcements.

Have had the tool for two springs now, and it is a very strong tool. Great steel. The edge is sharp, but not so sharp as any rocks could break of pieces of the edge if it were. Using it for edging puts a very deep edge long the concrete. Nice.
I just used it to open a 30 foot long slit in the yard to bury some landscape lighting wire. That’s when i noticed the problem–the handle is not as wide as it could be. The handle is only 3 3/4 inches wide on each side–on the underside of the handle. That is where your fingers are, and that is the length of handle that you can rest your hands on.
The handle should be at least 5 inches long on the underside, on each side. I use a L size glove, so I don’t have overly large hands. But the outer edge on each hand was overhanging the handle, and made it uncomfortable to use for a long period of time. Basically my little finger and that part of the hand were hanging off each side.
I’m surprised that the handle length hasn’t been addressed. Make that piece of pipe (handle) 11-12 inches long, and it will be 5 stars.
